הייתי היום באנדרטת זיכרון הגדולה בויקטוריה לזכר חללים אוסטרלים וניו זילנדים. והאמת בזמן שהסתובבתי בהיכל, חוץ מהבדל השפה, לא הרגשתי שונה מאתרי זיכרון בארץ. אותם עיטורי גבורה ועוז. אותם מדים. אותם תצוגות תלת-מימדיות המסבירים מלחמות. אותם פרחים על האדמה. אותם נערים שמתו צעירים.
"And how has it happened, and how does it happen still, that the wheat grows again."
Today I visited the Shrine of Remembrance, the largest memorial in Victoria for fallen Australian and New Zealand soldiers. And truth be told, as I was wandering the hall, apart from the language, I didn't feel a difference from memorials in Israel. The same medals for valour and courage. The same uniforms. The same 3D models explaining wars. The same flowers on the ground. The same men who died young.
